HAMMOND, IND. –The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team shot a season-high 54.2 percent from the field en route to a 62-52 road win at Purdue Northwest on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tritons took a 31-26 lead into halftime after both teams scored 20 points in the first half. UMSL trailed by five midway through the first quarter, but ended the frame with a 6-2 run. A pair of free throws by sophomore
Faye Meissner with 4:23 to go in the second quarter gave the Tritons a 29-26 lead they would not relinquish.
The Pride knotted the game at 42-42 late in the third quarter before UMSL reeled off nine unanswered for a 51-42 advantage going into the final 10 minutes. The Tritons then put their lead into double figures at 52-43 with the first bucket of the final quarter by sophomore
Kiara Stewart.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Redshirt senior Laura Szorenyi led the scoring with 16 points.
- Stewart added 14 points, while Meissner also reached double figures with 11.
- UMSL held a 29-26 rebounding advantage. Juniors Alex LaPorta and Danielle Berry pulled down six board each, while Berry also had six assists and five steals.
- The Tritons forced 19 turnovers and outscored PNW, 17-9, in points off turnovers. The Pride shot 43.8 percent.
