ST. LOUIS, MO. –The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team lost its season opener on Friday in a 78-44 decision to No. 3 ranked Grand Valley State as the Tritons were plagued by 20 turnovers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Grand Valley State used a 9-2 run to end the first quarter en route to a 23-10 lead before going into halftime with a 41-18 advantage. The Lakers then held a 61-28 lead after three quarters.
GVSU shot 50.8 percent from the field and outscored the Tritons, 19-3, in points off turnovers. UMSL shot 31.3 percent and was outrebounded 37-30.

- Redshirt senior Laura Szorenyi recorded 10 points, six assists and six rebounds.
- Freshman Breanna Diestelkamp tallied seven points and three rebounds in her collegiate debut.
