ROMEOVILLE, ILL., February 14, 2019 – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team lost its second straight game to a Top 25 team, falling victim to No. 16 Lewis on Thursday, 84-61.
The Tritons held a two-point lead after the first quarter before the Flyers pulled away.

How it Happened
UMSL shot 73.3 percent (11-of-15) from the field in the opening frame and took a 26-24 lead after the first quarter. A three-pointer by freshman
Faye Meissner gave the Tritons their largest lead at 24-19 with just under two minutes on the clock.
A 10-0 run early in the second quarter by the Flyers swung the lead in favor of the hosts, 36-29, who took a 44-38 lead into the break.
Lewis then outscored UMSL, 24-12, in the third quarter to extend its advantage to 68-48 heading into the final 10 minutes.

- Freshman Kiara Stewart went 6-of-8 from the field for 13 points, while redshirt junior Laura Szorenyi also scored 13 points.
- Sophomore Alex LaPorta added 12 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals.
- UMSL shot 38.3 percent after being limited to 24.2 percent in the second half.
- Lewis connected at a 54.1 percent clip and owned a 42-25 rebounding advantage, including a 12-7 edge on the offensive end. The Flyers outscored the Tritons, 19-4, in second chance points.
- Lewis' Jessica Kelliher, the GLVC's all-time leading scorer, finished with 34 points in 27 minutes.
