Late Rally Falls Short for Women's Basketball

INDIANAPOLIS, IND., February 16, 2019 – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team whittled a 13-point fourth quarter deficit down to one, but couldn't complete the comeback as the Tritons lost a 66-63 decision at Indianapolis on Saturday in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

The Greyhounds took their largest lead of the game at 58-45 with 7:20 to go before freshman McKenzie Lathrom knocked down three straight three-pointers in a span of 97 seconds to ignite an 11-0 run that was capped with senior Kaitlynn Henning's jumper pulling UMSL within 58-56 with three minutes to play.

A three-pointer by senior Arielle Jackson then made it a one-point game at 60-59 with 2:23 on the clock. The Tritons got within one two other times, but UIndy made all four free throws in the final to help seal the win, while a three-point shot at the buzzer by sophomore Alex LaPorta was off the mark.
