CLERMONT, FLA. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team defeated Davenport, 5-4, on Thursday to open its eight-game trip in Florida at The Spring Games, but dropped a 3-0 decision to Kentucky Wesleyan in its nightcap.

Senior
Lizzy Miller drove in three runs on three hits, while junior
Andee Tiffee picked up the win in the circle and scored the game-winning run, while also recording two hits.
Tiffee went six and one-thirds of an inning in relief to improve to 2-1, striking out nine and allowing just one run on two hits.
Her game-winning run came in the fifth inning after she led off with a triple and was brought home on a sac fly from senior
Chelsea Martinez.
Tiffee accounted for the game's first run with an RBI double in the opening frame and then scored on a Miller RBI single.
The Panthers knotted the game in the bottom of the first, but a two-run double by Miller in the third put UMSL back in front, 4-3, while Davenport got the equalizer in the fourth.
UMSL tallied nine hits, while Davenport finished with four. Freshman
Jessica Mrzlak also had a pair of hits.
Game 2: Kentucky Wesleyan 3, UMSL 0
Records: UMSL (4-10), Kentucky Wesleyan (6-5)
Kentucky Wesleyan broke the scoreless game with three runs on four hits in the seventh inning after recording just two hits in the game before that.
UMSL left 10 runners on base, finishing with six hits. Senior
Madi Sundling went 3-for-3 at the plate, while sophomore
Sapphire Munoz was 2-for-3. The Tritons also picked up five walks with three of those being drawn by freshman
Anna VanGundy.
Senior
Carly Kingery (2-6) suffered the loss, striking out five and walking just one in the complete game effort.
