SPRINGFIELD, MO., February 9, 2019 – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team had no answer for a hot-shooting Drury team on Saturday as the Tritons saw their six-game win streak snapped with an 84-68 loss in GLVC play.
The Panthers shot 59.6 percent from the field, including 51.7 percent from three-point range, where they drained a season-high 15 long balls. Drury picked up its fifth straight win with the victory.

How it Happened
UMSL jumped out to an 8-2 lead, but Drury followed with 11 unanswered for a 13-8 lead at the 11:45 mark. The Tritons got the next six points and pulled back in front at 14-13 on a three-pointer from sophomore
Anthony Hughes. Drury followed with eight straight to ignite a 22-2 run over the next five minutes and 26 seconds, knocking down all six three-pointers during that stretch.
The Tritons closed the opening 20 minutes with a 6-0 run to pull within 37-24 at the break. UMSL turned the ball over 11 times, which led to 18 points on the other end for the Panthers.
Drury matched its largest lead of the game of 19 points at 54-35 with 13:27 to play. The Tritons got within 12 twice, including once at 61-49 on a three-pointer from sophomore
Jose Grubbs, but four points in 22 seconds by the Panthers made it 65-49.
A three-pointer from senior
Johnathan Matthews later trimmed the deficit to 68-57 with 5:42 to go, but the Panthers answered with eight straight. UMSL would get back within 68-58 on a long ball from sophomore
Shane Wissink with just under two minutes to play, but would get no closer.
Inside the Box Score
- Matthews made all five three-pointers to finish with 15 points.
- Wissink added 12 points and three assists off the bench.
- Hughes and junior Jalen Wilkins-McCoy chipped in 10 points each.
- Redshirt freshman Steve Webb recorded team-highs of six rebounds, five assists and three steals.
- UMSL shot 55.1 percent and made 10-of-17 three-pointers, while holding a 26-20 rebounding advantage, including a 6-2 edge on the offensive end.
- The Tritons finished with 18 turnovers, while Drury held a 29-15 advantage in points off turnovers.
- Drury was led by Conley Garrison (26 pts) and Kamau Kinder (22 pts). Each was 6-of-10 from three-point range.
