Baseball Out-Slugs Lindenwood for Second Straight Win

ST. CHARLES, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team pounded out a season-high 17 hits on Tuesday en route to recording its second straight victory with a 13-11 win at future conference foe Lindenwood.
 
Records: UMSL (2-12), Lindenwood (8-14)
 
The Tritons got hits from 11 different players, including four from redshirt junior Derrick Freeman, with three of those being doubles. Freeman added two RBIs and scored two runs.
 
UMSL, which scored in six of nine innings, fended off a late Lions rally in which hosts scored the game's final six runs, including four in the ninth inning, and left the bases loaded to end the game.
 
Freshman Mitchel Becher added two hits, three RBIs and two runs, while also drawing two walks. Junior Jon-Anthony Caban and redshirt senior Brian Seymour added two hits each, while junior Jackson Dvorak tallied two RBIs.  
 
Freshman Nick Torres picked up his first collegiate win, going five and two-thirds in the start.
 
Lindenwood finished with 12 hits.
 
Up Next: UMSL returns to GLVC play at home this weekend, hosting Bellarmine in a three-game series with a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday. First pitch both days is Noon.
