LEBANON, ILL. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team lost 2-1 and 8-1 decisions to Lewis on Saturday as the two teams opened the Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule.
Senior
Chelsea Martinez was a combined 5-for-6 at the plate, while UMSL tallied just four other hits on the day as they saw their six-game win streak snapped.

Game 1: Lewis 2, UMSL 1
Martinez's RBI double in the first inning was the Tritons' lone hit and tied the game at 1-1. Lewis scored the eventual game-winner in the fifth.
Senior
Carly Kingery (6-7), who had won her last four starts, suffered the loss, allowing both runs on seven hits. She also struck out eight and walked one. Of the Flyer's seven hits, four were doubles.
Game 2: Lewis 8, UMSL 1
The Flyers scored the game's final seven runs, including four in the fourth, to break a 1-1 tie after two innings.
Lewis out-hit UMSL, 14-8, tallying four doubles and a home run.
Martinez was 4-for-4 at the plate, while freshman
Jessica Mrzlak was 2-for-2 with a walk.
Senior
Reagan Osborn picked up the RBI in the second inning with a two-out single.
Junior
Andee Tiffee (4-3) allowed five runs on nine hits, struck out five and walked two in three and two-thirds innings in the start.
