ST. LOUIS, MO. – Visiting McKendree jumped out to early leads in both games of a GLVC doubleheader on Wednesday en route to handing the University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team 15-4 and 13-7 losses.
Records: UMSL (4-15, 3-5 GLVC), McKendree (7-12, 4-4 GLVC)
Game 1: McKendree 15, UMSL 4
The Bearcats led 13-0 after three innings, recording three home runs and scoring 10 unearned runs as UMSL was charged with three errors.
The Tritons got two runs back in the third and added one in the fourth despite not having a hit before sophomore
Josh Shoemaker broke up the no-hitter with a lead-off single in the fifth. Freshman
Brandon Olion then followed with a single of his own, scoring Shoemaker for his first collegiate RBI.
Those would be the only two hits allowed by the Bearcats, which recorded seven hits, drew eight walks and had three reach on the hit by pitch. UMSL drew five walks and had one hit by pitch.

Derrick Freeman reached base twice, on a walk and a hit by pitch.
Game 2: McKendree 13, UMSL 7

Mitchel Becher accounted for UMSL's first two runs, using an RBI double in the fourth and an RBI single in the fifth, while a solo home run off the bat of senior
Tom DeCero in the sixth trimmed the deficit to 9-3.
The Tritons got three runs across the plate in the seventh on just one hit, an RBI double from Olion, while Shoemaker got a run in on a groundout before Olion scored on a wild pitch to make it 11-6.
Freeman, who was walked another three times and hit by another pitch, added an RBI on a sac fly in the eighth inning.
Becher finished 3-for-4 at the plate with the two RBIs, while junior
Jackson Dvorak added two hits, including a double. UMSL tallied nine hits to McKendree's 13.
