ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team took both games from visiting Southern Indiana on Friday, winning the opener on a walk-off, 3-2, before a 10-2 victory in five innings in the nightcap.
The defending NCAA DII national champions entered the day atop the GLVC standings at 4-0.

Morgan Hill scored freshman
Jessica Mrzlak for the game-winner in the seventh. Mrzlak led off with a single and ended up on third on the sacrifice and USI error.
The Screaming Eagles scored both of their runs on solo home runs from Allison Schubert, including one in the fifth and one in the seventh.
Senior
Chelsea Martinez also had a long ball, her fourth of the season, on a two-run shot over the centerfield fence in the sixth inning that gave the Tritons a 2-1 lead.
USI out-hit UMSL, 6-4.
Junior
Andee Tiffee (6-3) earned the win in the circle, striking out five and walking just one.
Game 2: UMSL 10, Southern Indiana 2 (5 inn.)
Senior
Carly Kingery got the win in the circle and helped herself at the plate with four RBIs on two hits.
Kingery delivered a three-run triple in the first inning that saw the Tritons jump out to a 6-1 lead. UMSL had four hits in that frame and took advantage of two USI errors, while sending 10 batters to the plate.
Martinez finished 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored, while Tiffee added two hits, including a single in the fifth that ended the game early.
In the circle, Kingery (7-8) struck out four and walked one while scattering six hits.
UMSL tallied 12 hits as a team.
