The league-leading Hawks erased an early 2-0 UMSL lead and then used two home runs, including a three-run shot and a two-run shot, in the eighth to secure the win after the Tritons knotted the score in the top of that frame.

Shoemaker accounted for the final two runs, using an RBI single in the sixth to bring UMSL within 4-3 before tying the game in the eighth with a solo home run.

The Tritons out-hit the Hawks, 9-8, with Freeman and Caban adding two hits each.

Junior Bobby Shallenberger went five innings in the no decision start, equaling a season-best six strikeouts. He also walked two and allowed four runs on two hits.
