LEBANON, ILL. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team rallied from a three-run deficit en route to a 6-5 victory at McKendree on Tuesday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
The Tritons scored three runs in the sixth inning to tie the game at 4-4 before pulling ahead, 6-4, in the sixth on a two-run double from redshirt junior
Derrick Freeman.
Records: UMSL (5-18, 4-8 GLVC), McKendree (9-14, 6-6 GLVC)
UMSL out-hit the Bearcats, 11-9, with sophomore
John Hilpert and junior
Jackson Dvorak combining to go 6-for-9 with three hits each in the top two spots of the batting order.
Freshman
Mitchel Becher added two hits and two RBIs. He drove in UMSL's first run of the game in the fourth inning with an RBI single after McKendree jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Becher added another RBI single in the three-run sixth that also included Dvorak stealing home for a run and junior
Jon-Anthony Caban bringing in another with a sac fly.
Freeman also finished with two hits and scored two runs.
Senior
Ben Leuthauser earned the win in two innings of relief, scattering just one hit and walking one, while junior
Ryan Siverly recorded the save in two innings.
