LEBANON, ILL. – After defeating host McKendree, 5-1, in the opener, the University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team needed a late rally and an extra inning to complete the sweep with a 3-2 nightcap winner in Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Sunday.
Senior
Chelsea Martinez delivered her co-GLVC leading sixth long ball to tie the game in the seventh, while freshman
Jessica Mrzlak recorded the game-winning RBI single in the eighth to finish the comeback.

Freshman
Anna VanGundy was 3-for-3 with an RBI, while junior
Andee Tiffee picked up the win in the four-hitter and helped herself in the circle with two RBI.
UMSL broke the scoreless game with a three-run third inning, including a two-run infield single off the bat Tiffee. Martinez drew a bases loaded walk to bring in the first run.
Two more runs came home in the fifth with sophomore
Sapphire Munoz recording an RBI double and VanGundy adding an RBI single on her third hit of the game.
Tiffee (8-3) struck out nine, while walking just one and scattering four hits.
UMSL tallied six hits.
Game 2: UMSL 3, McKendree 2
UMSL finished the game with eight hits, including two each from Mrzlak and senior
Reagan Osborn.
Senior
Carly Kingery (9-8) struck out 10 in the complete-game four-hitter, walking just two.
Kingery scored on Martinez's home run, reaching on a fielder's choice, while freshman pinch runner
Morgan Skyles scored the game-winning run, running for Munoz, who reached on a McKendree fielding error.
