ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team used three home runs to sweep Maryville on Friday in Great Lakes Valley Conference play, posting victories of 4-2 and 3-2.
With the two wins, third-year head coach
Amanda Scott collected her 100
th victory at UMSL, becoming the fastest coach in program history to accomplish that milestone. Scott is now 100-56 with the Tritons.
In addition to the power off the bats, pitchers
Andee Tiffee and
Carly Kingery combined for 19 strikeouts in the circle and allowed just one earned run in 14 innings.

A three-run walk-off homer from senior
Chelsea Martinez helped complete the comeback, while the Tritons also took advantage of three Saints miscues in the sixth and seventh innings to help garner the win.
The Saints plated both of their runs in the first inning for a quick 2-0 lead, but Tiffee shut down Maryville's offense the rest of the game, striking out 12. The Saints finished with six hits, although four were bunt singles.
UMSL got on the board in the sixth courtesy of a two-out error as senior
Lizzy Miller's hit went under the third baseman's glove. It scored redshirt junior
Morgan Hill, who also reached on an error.
Then in the seventh, pinch hitter
Sara Fredrickson led off with a hit by pitch, while senior Kingery got on via another Saints error.
Tiffee, who improved to 11-4 in the circle with the win, had two of UMSL's five hits. Martinez's long ball was her GLVC-leading ninth of the season.
Game 2: UMSL 3, Maryville 2
UMSL had just four hits, but three were for extra base including a solo home run from Tiffee and a two-run shot from freshman
Corinne Daley, both in the fifth inning that helped the Tritons erase a two-run deficit.
Maryville got off to another 2-0 lead in the nightcap, this time in the fourth inning, plating a pair of unearned runs.
Kingery (11-10) struck out seven, walked just one and scattered five hits.
Senior
Madi Sundling added a double and scored on Daley's round tripper.
