ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team was edged by visiting Illinois Springfield on Wednesday night in 11 innings, 9-6.
A pair of Triton runs in the ninth helped force the extra innings. Junior
Andrew Hayden's RBI single got UMSL within 6-5, while redshirt junior
Derrick Freeman, who reached on a walk, scampered home on a wild pitch to tie it.
UIS then scored three runs in the 11
th on just one hit, while being aided by a pair of Triton errors.

A solo home run from senior
Tom DeCero in the first inning and a two-run shot from Freeman in the third helped UMSL to a 3-2 advantage. However UIS would score a run in each of the next four innings for a 6-4 advantage in the seventh with UMSL tacking on a run courtesy of an RBI groundout from sophomore
Josh Shoemaker in the sixth.
UIS had 10 hits to UMSL's nine.
