ST. LOUIS, MO. – The No. 24 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team had its 14-game win streak snapped on Thursday in an 8-0 loss to Illinois Springfield in opening round action of the NCAA Midwest Regional, hosted by the Tritons.
The seventh-seeded Prairie Stars delivered four home runs and out-hit second seeded UMSL, 7-3. The Tritons left seven runners on base and were unable to take advantage of three UIS errors.
UMSL will look to avoid elimination tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. when they take on No. 6 seed Truman State in an elimination game. The Bulldogs lost a 10-9 decision to No. 3 seed Indianapolis in today's earlier game. UIndy and UIS will meet at Noon in the winner's game in the double elimination bracket.
