ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team had its home opener spoiled by visiting Lewis on Friday night in a 2-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
All three goals came in the first half with one for each team in a 30-second span early in play. The Flyers netted the first goal at the 17:53 mark before the Tritons quickly countered at 18:21. Freshman

Lewis notched the game-winner in the 40
th minute after the teams returned to the field following an 85-minute weather delay that began with 23 minutes remaining on the clock.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
UMSL outshot the Flyers, 12-10, including 9-3 in the second half, with many of those attempts coming in the final 10 minutes. Lewis had six shots on goal to the Tritons' four and owned a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Hanewinkel finished with two shots on goal, while freshmen
Emma Sitton and
Katelyn Grandcolas also took two shots each.
Junior
Amber Hayes played all 90 minutes in goal, making four saves, while allowing the two goals.
