Women's Soccer Falls Short to UIS

ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team lost a 2-1 decision to visiting Illinois Springfield on Sunday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. The Prairie Stars notched the game-winner in the 83rd minute.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Prairie Stars scored both of their goals off corner kicks, the first one coming in the 21st minute.
 
UMSL countered in the 30th minute when sophomore Mia Milazzo headed in the rebound from fellow sophomore Imogen Bennett's shot, which hit the crossbar.
 
UIS finished with 18 shots, placing 13 on goal. Junior keeper Amber Hayes recorded a season-high 11 saves, which included stopping a penalty kick.
 
UMSL tallied 13 shots, landing four on goal.
 
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
Milazzo finished with four shots, while junior Sarah Lyon tallied three. Freshman Katelyn Grandcolas put both of her shots on target.
