ST. LOUIS, MO. – Redshirt senior
Laura Szorenyi scored a season-high 25 points on Thursday night to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team to a key 71-58 victory over Lewis in Great Lakes Valley Conference.
It was the seventh straight win at home for the Tritons, who led from start to finish, and completed the season sweep of the Flyers. Including their win at Lewis, 71-60, on January 25, UMSL has won seven of nine games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UMSL raced out to an 8-0 lead and led by as many as 13 in the first quarter. They owned a 21-11 lead after the first frame and took a 35-25 lead into halftime. The Tritons made 7-of-13 three-pointers in the first half, including 5-of-7 in the first quarter.
Lewis opened the third quarter with a 14-6 spurt and pulled within 41-39 with 4:29 on the clock. However, the Tritons followed with 10 unanswered and took a 52-42 lead into the final quarter.
The Flyers got within 62-55 with just over two minutes to play, but UMSL scored the next nine points – all at the free-throw line – to help secure the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- UMSL shot 43.9 percent and owned a 39-26 rebounding advantage, including a 10-3 edge on the offensive end, while Lewis shot 40.4 percent.
- The Tritons were 9-of-21 (42.9 percent) from three-point range.
- Junior Danielle Berry added 18 points, four assists and four steals, while Szorenyi added six rebounds and four steals.
- Sophomore Kiara Stewart followed with 10 points and eight rebounds, while junior Alex LaPorta also pulled down eight boards to go with four assists and two steals.
