ARKADELPHIA, ARK. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team closed out its opening weekend with an 11-2 win at Ouachita Baptist on Sunday afternoon. The Tritons began the day with a 1-0 loss to Mississippi College.
GAME 1: Mississippi College 1, UMSL 0
The Choctaws won the game with an unearned run in the sixth, taking advantage of a two-out error by the Tritons.
Senior
Andee Tiffee was tagged with the loss in the circle, despite surrendering just three hits and striking out 10.
Redshirt senior
Morgan Hill accounted for two of UMSL's six hits.
The Tritons left six runners on base, including runners at second and third with no outs in the fifth.
GAME 2: UMSL 11, Ouachita Baptist 2 (6 inn.)
The Tritons tallied nine hits, including two home runs, and scored all 11 evens between the fifth and sixth innings to rally for the win.
Freshman
McKenzie Lamos and Tiffee each had a three-run homer in the fifth inning to put the Tritons on top 6-2 before three hits and a Tigers error led to five runs in the sixth, all with two outs.
Freshman
Annie Scaramuzzi had two hits, including a double.
Sophomore
Mimi Bradley earned the win in the circle, allowing two runs on seven hits in four innings of work. Scaramuzzi preserved the victory with two shutout innings, scattering two hits and striking out three.
