Diestelkamp's Career-High Helps Women's Basketball Past Bearcats

ST. LOUIS – Sophomore Breanna Diestelkamp scored a career-high with 24 points in her first collegiate start on Tuesday to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team to a 77-68 victory over Southwest Baptist in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
 
Diestelkamp made 8-of-10 field goals and 8-of-10 free throws, while also pulling down nine rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tritons held a 33-26 halftime lead after taking a 14-13 lead into the second quarter. UMSL shot just 35.7 percent from the field, but made 9-of-11 free throws.
 
Southwest Baptist closed the gap to 48-44 after three quarters and got within one after opening the frame with a three-pointer, but would get no closer. The Tritons made all six free throws in the final 20 seconds to help seal the game and finished the contest 25-of28 at the line.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Senior Alex LaPorta added 16 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
  • Senior Danielle Berry finished with 12 points, making 9-of-10 free throws, six assists, five rebounds and three steals.
  • UMSL shot 42.6 percent and held a 33-30 rebounding advantage. Southwest Baptist shot 41.5 percent.
