QUINCY, ILL. – A dominant third quarter helped the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team to a 70-49 win at Quincy Thursday night in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
The Tritons erased a one-point halftime deficit by outscoring the Hawks, 19-2, in that frame and 38-16 in the final 20 minutes.

Kiara Stewart (20 points, 10 rebounds) and senior
Alex LaPorta (18 points, 12 rebounds) each had a double-double to lead the Tritons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UMSL held a 19-13 lead after the first quarter, but found themselves down 33-32 at the half after being outscored 20-13 in the second quarter.
The Tritons then opened the second half with 19 unanswered points and held Quincy scoreless until the final minute of the frame. UMSL took a 51-35 lead into the final 10 minutes.

- Junior Faye Meissner scored nine points.
- LaPorta added four assists and two steals.
- The Tritons held a 47-25 rebounding advantage, including an 18-9 edge on the offensive end.
- UMSL shot 46.6 percent, while Quincy shot 32.1 percent.
- The 49 points were the fewest allowed by the Tritons this season.
