The UMSL volleyball team endured a tough, tough loss Friday night at the O'Reilly Family Event Center at the hands of the Drury Panthers.
Fast forward one day and the Tritons took out their aggression on the ball and the Southwest Baptist University Bearcats, as the Tritons authored the sweep.
The Tritons contained the Bearcats, 25-12, 25-18, 25-19.
The win pushes the Tritons to 16-6 overall and 9-2 in the GLVC.
In the opening set, the Tritons set the tone, jumping out by as many as double digits, after commencing the set on a 12-5 run.
In the second, SBU settled in, keeping it close during the early going, 7-5.
But the Tritons authored a 7-3 run to open up things.
In the third and decider, SBU stayed close, getting good play from the front line, but authoritative shots by UMSL enabled the Tritons to pull away for good.
UMSL is off until they return home for a Friday (Oct. 29) matchup against Lindenwood.
For the past three weekends, the Tritons have logged some serious tread on the tires.
Friday's match begins a four-match home stand.
The team hosts Quincy Tuesday, Nov. 2, followed by the Nov. 5 tilt against the University of Indianapolis, and Lewis University one day later.
The final two home matches are scheduled for Nov. 12 against Maryville and Nov. 13 against Truman State.
