The Tritons looked to mix it up a bit and expand on player combinations Saturday at Principia.
Well, whatever head coach
Katie Vaughn dialed up worked without hesitation, as the Tritons routed the host, 88-29.
The Tritons used a great transition game and mixed in near court and cross-court passing lanes to complement timely shooting from all spots on the hardwood.
Principia is a member of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (Division III), and while the game goes down as an exhibition for the host, it counts as a regular-season win for the Tritons.
UMSL improves to 7-1 overall. The Tritons immediately went to work, producing added points off turnovers and transition buckets.
Alex LaPorta took the rock in the lane, often dishing down low, finding
Kiara Stewart on the high-low action.
Mallory Ronshausen was her typical self, coming up with net from the perimeter, and
Danielle Berry mixed up her dribble penetration and step-back jumpers.
The pre-Christmas vibe has resonated throughout the program. Up next is another road game Dec. 30 at Christian Brothers in Memphis, Tenn.
Alex LaPorta led all scorers with 19 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists.
Kiara Stewart added 18.
Taylor Thompson tossed in 15 and
Tori Standefer tallied 13.
Faye Meissner and
Mallory Ronshausen both had six each.
Danielle Berry and
Shania Liburd both had four.
McKenzie Lathrom added two and
Adriana Plavsic had one.
