The UMSL Tritons are rolling!

Affter dropping the season opener to Grand Valley State, 61-54, head coach Katie Vaughn has her Tritons 5-1.

UMSL headed to Truman State Thursday, but the Tritons edged the host, 57-54.

A few weeks ago, the GLVC preseason rankings were published, and the Bulldogs were ranked first, one spot ahead of the Tritons in the Central Division..

The Tritons never received such memo, apparently!

Timely shooting. Hustle. Precision passing. They all were integral in the win.

Plus, any time a team has a 3-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio, the recipe is a sweet elixir of success, and the Tritons experienced that first-hand Thursday.

The Tritons finished with 15 assists and a mere five turnovers.

Kiara Stewart had her most impressive game of the season, drilling 21 points and constantly migrating from one block to the other in an effort to keep the Bulldogs' defense guessing.

Alex LaPorta pured in 20, Mallory Ronshausen and Danielle Berry each had five each. Faye Meissner added six.

The Tritons are at Lindenwood for a 1 p.m. tip Saturday.
