ELKHART, IND. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's swimming team returned to the pool on Wednesday for Day 1 of the 2021 GLVC Championships, which was highlighted by a school record and fifth place finish in the 200 free relay. 

Sophomore Franziska Hauptmann, freshman Olivia Fiorino, sophomore Kristen Stalder and sophomore Serena Brizard swam 1:36.90 in that event.

Other top finishes included:

• 200 medley (Franziska Hauptmann, Zara Konstapel, Seela Wang, Kristen Stalder) placing sixth in a season-best time of 1:47.21
• 200 IM (Stephanie Schoemans, 17^th, season-best 2:10.24)
• 50 free (Serena Brizard, 13^th, season-best 24.01; Franziska Hauptmann, 14^th) 

UMSL is in sixth place in the team standings with 211.5 points.
 
Day 2 competition tomorrow begins at 5:30 p.m. (EST) and includes the 100 butterfly, the 400 IM, the 200 freestyle and the 400 medley relay.
