BIRMINGHAM, ALA. - University of Missouri-St. Louis sophomore
Jon Osa earned All-America honors on Saturday night by placing 12
th in the 200 backstroke at the 2021 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships.

Osa also broke his own school record in the event in a time of 1:46.31. He entered the race with the 17
th fastest time and finished 14
th in the morning prelims to advance to the finals.

Osa was tabbed an All-America for the second straight year after earning that status last season as part of the 200 freestyle relay.

A breakdown of Osa's week at the NCAA Championships include:
Wednesday - 50 freestyle
Osa swam a season-best 20.26 in the 50 freestyle on Wednesday morning as he opened competition, placing 27th out of the 35 competitors.
Thursday - 100 butterfly
Osa swam a season-best 49.08 in the 100 butterfly on Thursday, placing 28th out of the 30 competitors.
Friday - 100 backstroke
Osa swam a season-best 48.57 in the 100 backstroke on Friday, earning a 19th place finish ouf of the 27 competitors.
Saturday- 200 backstroke
Osa finished 12th to earn All-America honors, while bettering his school record for the second time on the day with a time of 1:46.31. He was 14th in the prelims in a time of 1:46.57.
