Volleyball Picks Up Pair of 3-0 Wins

ST. LOUIS – The No. 10 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team swept past visiting Illinois Springfield and William Jewell on Saturday as they played its final GLVC triangular.   
 
No. 10 UMSL 3, Illinois Springfield 0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-20)
Records: UMSL (9-2, 9-2 GLVC), Illinois Springfield (3-11, 3-10 GLVC)
 
UMSL racked up 54 kills on offense, including 19 in the set two win in which they hit .348.
 
Defensively, the Tritons totaled a three-set match season-high 75 digs which kept UIS to .062 hitting. The Prairie Stars recorded 25 kills, including just five in the opening frame.
 
Senior Kaileen Herman (41 assists, 13 digs) and junior Charlotte Richards (17 kills, 22 digs) each recorded a double-double, while junior Megan Woll finished with 20 digs, including the 1,500th of her career.
 
Sophomore Mya Elliott and redshirt sophomore Olivia Klank added 10 kills each, while Elliott also tallied three blocks.

UMSL held the Cardinals to .031 hitting, including -.087 in the second set in which they had just six kills.
 
The Tritons hit. .288, including .325 in the second frame.
 
Richards recorded a match-high 10 kills, while Herman finished with 32 assists, seven kills and six digs.
 
UMSL owned a 9-4 blocking advantage with Elliott tallying four and Richards and Herman recording three each.
 
Woll finished with 12 digs.
 
Up Next
UMSL is idle until March 30 when they travel to Truman State.
