ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team recorded a split with visiting William Jewell on Saturday, taking the opener, 3-2, before being edged in the nightcap, 6-5.

A two-out, two-run double from sophomore
McKenzie Lamos in the third inning proved to be the difference as it gave UMSL a 3-2 advantage with all the scoring being done in the first three innings.
Both teams got one run in the first with the Tritons scoring on an RBI groundout from junior
Corinne Daley. The Cardinals took a short-lived 2-1 lead in the second.
UMSL had just three hits, but also put runners on base via four walks and three hit-by-pitches, including two from sophomore
Annie Scaramuzzi.
In addition to Lamos' double, junior
Anna VanGundy also had a double.
Junior
Mimi Bradley (7-3) tossed the complete game six-hitter, allowing just one earned run. She struck out five and issued just one walk.
Game 2: William Jewell 6, UMSL 5
UMSL recorded 11 hits, but left 15 runners on base. The Tritons were also hampered by an early 4-0 deficit in the first inning, in which they committed three errors.
Lamos and junior
Jessica Mrzlak had two hits each with Lamos recording another double.
Junior
Ali Schoon tallied two RBI, including an RBI single in the sixth that brought UMSL within 6-5.
UMSL also got three runners via walks and another four via hit-by-pitches with Scaramuzzi being hit twice again.
Scaramuzzi tossed three scoreless innings in relief, striking out five. Sophomore
Jenna Towle was tagged with the loss, surrendering just two earned runs on eight hits in the first four innings.
