ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team lost a 3-0 decision to Missouri S&T on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader, while the nightcap was suspended at 5-5 in the top of the 10
th.
That game will be completed tomorrow beginning at Noon before the series concludes with another game immediately following.
GAME 1: Missouri S&T 3, UMSL 0
The Miners earned the win with a three-run homer in the top of the eighth, while the loss overshadowed a standout start from sophomore
Holden Mayberry, who went seven scoreless innings, allowing just two hits, while striking out four.
Offensively, the Tritons tallied six hits, but left seven runners on.
Freshman
Mitch Green led UMSL with two hits, while also drawing a walk.
Missouri S&T finished with four hits, while its pitching duo struck UMSL batters out 10 timies.
GAME 2: UMSL 5, Missouri S&T 5 (suspended after 9 innings)
UMSL scored three runs in the sixth inning on four hits, including a two-run single from freshman
Mitchell Spindler that gave the Tritons a 5-4 lead, but S&T tied it in the top of the seventh on an RBI groundout.
Both teams left two runners on base in the ninth inning, including UMSL, which put the winning run at third.
The Miners are outhitting the Tritons, 11-9.
