ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team celebrated Senior Day on Sunday be sweeping Indianapolis as the two teams closed out a four-game GLVC series. The Tritons posted an 8-5 win in the opener and then scored five unanswered in the nightcap to rally for the 6-5 win.
Prior to the games, UMSL honored its six graduating players –
Blake Jones, Christian Thrasher,
Bobby Shallenberger,
John Hilpert, Mitchel Becher and
Josh Shoemaker.

Game 1: UMSL 8, UIndy 5
The Tritons scored eight runs on nine hits, while Jones recorded his first win on the mound.
Brandon Olion notched two doubles, driving in a run on each one to finish with two RBI.
Isaac Powers also had two hits and two RBI as the designated hitter, delivering a two-run single in the fourth to give UMSL a 3-1 lead they would not relinquish.
The Tritons scored three runs in that fourth inning and then plated four in the sixth.
Jones allowed one earned run on five hits, while striking out four.
Shoemaker earned his first save of the year, facing the final two batters.
UIndy scored four runs in the seventh inning, all coming after a two-out error.
Game 2: UMSL 6, UIndy 5
The Tritons scored five unanswered runs, including four in the eighth to garner the win. UMSL recorded five hits in that frame, including a two-out RBI single on a 3-2 count from
Jared Bryant that drove in Hilpert for the go ahead run.
Olion and
Matt DiMemmo had two hits each, while DiMemmo also scored two runs. Olion,
Clayton Stephens and
Bryce Kulinski all had a double.
UIndy jumped out to a 5-0 lead and had limited UMSL to just one hit through four innings. The Greyhounds out-hit the Tritons, 13-8.
Shoemaker earned his second save of the day, while
Jake Uselton tossed a scoreless inning with two strikeouts to get the win.
