EVANSVILLE, IND. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team picked up two key victories at Southern Indiana on Friday to keep their hopes of earning a spot in next weekend's GLVC Tournament alive.
The Tritons entered the day tied for eighth in the league standings with the Screaming Eagles with the top eight advancing.
UMSL won by scores of 4-1 and 6-3. The Tritons have now won four straight and eight of their last 10.

Game 1: UMSL 4, Southern Indiana 1
UMSL took advantage of a first inning USI error by scoring three unearned runs – all with two outs – to jump on the scoreboard early. Junior
Corinne Daley delivered a two-run single, while sophomore
Morgan Barnoski followed with an RBI double.
Sophomore
McKenzie Lamos rounded out the Tritons scoring with a solo home run in the fifth inning.
The Screaming Eagles avoided the shutout on a two-out infield RBI single in the fifth inning.
Junior
Mimi Bradley earned the win by allowing just the one run on eight hits, while walking three and striking out three.
UMSL recorded eight hits, including two each from Lamos, Barnoski and sophomore
Annie Scaramuzzi. Lamos also finished with two runs.
Game 2: UMSL 6, Southern Indiana 3
Scaramuzzi recorded two hits and picked up the win in the circle to lead the Tritons to victory.
UMSL tallied 11 hits as a team, including four doubles. Daley, freshman
Maddie Snemis and junior
Jessica Mrzlak also had two hits each.
Scaramuzzi went four and one-thirds of an inning in the start, allowing one run on four hits.
