SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- The University of Missouri-St. Louis Tritons volleyball team (6-3, 1-0 GLVC) started slow Thursday evening in Springfield, Ill.
But, as the time-tested adage states, it's how you finish, not how you begin.
The Tritons used a late surge en route to their win over the University of Illinois Springfield, taking the final three sets (25-21, 25-16, 25-20) to close out the match.
The Prairie Stars set the tone early on, taking the opening set, 25-21, until the Tritons' resolve was on display at center court.
The Tritons outscored the opposition, 96-82, and the character and discipline down the waning sets proved to the be the difference maker.

Olivia Klank, and
Karli Dean accounted for 39 kills -- 14 more than the Prairie Stars.
UMSL's
Megan Woll continued her dominance on the digs, adding another 27 to her already impressive resume, as she previously eclipsed the century mark a mere days ago.
On the assist front, it was UMSL's
Kaileen Herman who led all contributors with her 47, 15 more than the Prairie Stars' Becca Blakeley.
The win makes it three in a row for the Tritons, who are back in action Saturday as they head to Quincy, Ill., for another GLVC showdown.
