The UMSL Tritons women's soccer team was on the road again Sunday afternoon as they battled another GLVC foe.
Entering the match at Lewis University, the Tritons utilized a balanced attack -- operating through the ebbs and flows of the match.
The first half was one of a chippy nature, as players for both teams hit the turf with reckless abandon for their bodies.
Possession came and went for both teams, and the Tritons defense held its own for the majority of the match, until the final 7 1/2 minutes, when Flyers' Sonia
Finch found the net via a corner kick, a mere feet from the goal line, giving the host the game-decider in the 1-0 final.
With the loss, the Tritons sit .500 entering next week with a 3-3 record and 1-2 in conference play.
The Flyers extend their record to 4-0-1 and 2-0-1 in conference play.
The Tritons tallied six total shots in the match, one of which was on goal, while the Flyers authored five total shots (one on goal) and was whistled for the lone
yellow card. The Tritons have some time to regroup before their Sept. 24 home opener against Truman State University. The match is set for 5 p.m.
