Megan Woll Sets Career Digs Mark, Tritons Drop First Two Matches at Ferris State

BIG RAPIDS, MICH. - Megan Woll set the 21st-ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team career digs record in Friday's first match. Woll entered the season needing 12 digs to take the top spot. UMSL lost their first two matches of the season at the Ferris State Tournament. The Tritons fell to No. 12 Hillsdale College, 3-2, and to host Ferris State University, 3-0.

The Tritons (0-2) rebounded from two tightly contested sets lost to Hillsdale (1-0) with a 25-19 third set win. UMSL rode the momentum to another 25-19 win in the fourth set to force a fifth and deciding set. The Chargers notched nine kills and four aces in the final set to earn the 3-2 match win.

Megan Woll totaled 25 digs against Hillsdale. Charlotte Richards led all attackers with a career-high 28 kills and 24 digs. Kaileen Herman also had a double-double with 52 assists and 16 digs. Karlyn Hannewald added a career-high 15 kills against the Chargers.

Kaileen Herman posted a double-double in the second match against Ferris State (3-0) with 27 assists and 14 digs. Megan Woll added another 22 digs to her career digs mark now set at 1,711 entering the second day of the Ferris State Tournament tomorrow.

Ferris State hit .240 with 51 kills in the three-set match. The Tritons totaled 34 kills while hitting .137 in the nightcap.

The Tritons face Saint Leo University Saturday at 9 a.m. EST followed by a match with Davenport University at 2 p.m. EST in the final day of the Ferris State Tournament in Big Rapids, Mich.
