ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team rallied for a 1-1 tie against the University of Indianapolis on Friday evening at Don Dallas Field to keep its GLVC Playoff hopes alive. The Tritons are now 5-6-4, 3-4-4 GLVC while the Greyhounds are 5-5-5, 4-3-4 GLVC.
UIndy jumped out on top in the 13th minute as Kiki Sauceda was fouled in the penalty area and converted the kick for her fourth of the season.
UMSL had a chance to tie the game in the 20th minute but
Jalyn Richardson's shot from 20 yards out just sailed over the bar for a goal kick. The Tritons had another chance with 3:22 remaining in the half.
Candice Parziani served a ball from the left wing into the box that
Mia Milazzo deflected to
Chelsea Riden. Riden had an open goal but pulled her shot wide to the left.
UMSL scored the equalizer 7:38 into the second half. After a throw in by
Maya Ware, Richardson won the ball, dribbled down the left-hand side and crossed the ball into the six-yard box trying to connect with
Karley Kinzinger. Makenna Nickens came off her line to punch it away but the ball fell to the foot of
Ayana Weissenfluh who buried it into the upper right corner for her first goal of the season.
Richardson had a chance to put the Tritons in front in the 65th minute but her shot was saved by Nickens. Weissenfluh had a chance at a second goal in the 69th minute but Nickens was there to make the save.
The Hounds had two chances at the game-winner in the final 10 minutes but
Paige Schwartz stopped both attempts to keep the score level.
UMSL outshot UIndy 13-11 in the contest but each side had three shots on goal.
The Tritons wrap up the regular season on Sunday afternoon hosting McKendree at 12 p.m. The team will honor its 15 seniors prior to the start of the match.
