ROLLA, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision against Missouri S&T on Friday evening at Allgood-Bailey Stadium in Rolla, Mo. The Tritons fall to 4-6-2, 3-4-1 GLVC while the Miners improve to 3-4-4, 2-2-4 GLVC.
S&T jumped out to the early lead scoring off a corner kick in the sixth minute. Robert Suellentrop scored in the middle of the goal off a service from Jimmy Sanchez. The Miners added a second goal in the 15th minute as Santiago Cervantes scored into the upper right corner.
UMSL had a pair of chances in the 16th minute as 
Owen Sears had a shot blocked and 
Tommy Naumann missed one high. The Tritons had two more chances a couple of minutes as 
Bradley Fritsche had his shot saved by Davis Joseph and 
Leo Sowa missed a shot wide right.
Each team had eight shots in the first 45 minutes but UMSL held a 3-2 advantage in shots on goal.
The Tritons cut the Miner lead in half early in the second stanza as 
Arman Kovac scored in the 56th minute on a shot towards the lower left side of the goal.
UMSL had a chance to even things in the 66th minute but 
JT Goldstein's shot was saved by Joseph.
The Tritons had another chance at the equalizer in the 75th minute but 
Cole Pardo's shot missed high.
S&T added a pair of insurance goals in the closing minutes. Jason Jorgensen scored on a counterattack into the lower right hand corner with assists from Derek Schlenker and Mustafa Hasan. The Miners scored their final goal off a free kick in the 83rd minute as Jason Jorgensen scored into the upper left corner from about 25 yards out.
UMSL outshot S&T 14-13 for the contest with each side putting five shots on goal. The Miners had a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks in the contest.
The Tritons continue their three-game road trip on Sunday as they travel down to Springfield to take on Drury at 2:30 p.m.
