ROLLA, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team dominated the stat sheet but came up short on the scoreboard in a 3-2 loss to Missouri S&T at Allgood-Bailey Stadium in Rolla, Mo., on Friday evening. The Tritons drop to 5-6-1, 3-4-1 GLVC while the Miners improve to 2-5-4, 2-4-2 GLVC.
UMSL came out firing taking four shots in the first five-plus minutes of the contest but it was S&T that got on the board first as they scored off a counter attack.
Grace Osvath took a shot that was blocked and the Miners came down and scored as Ally Hasken off a feed from Paige VanDaele into the upper right corner.
The Tritons leveled the score shortly before halftime.
Cammie Robinson scored on a scrum in front of the goal for her third goal of the season.
UMSL outshot S&T 14-2 in the first 45 minutes including 6-2 in shots on goal. The Tritons also had seven corner kicks to none for the Miners.
UMSL took the lead 7:24 into the second half as
Jalyn Richardson scored her team leading fifth goal of the season.
S&T scored the equalizer 3:12 as Hasken scored her second goal of the contest with an assist from Sydney Gratz.
Hasken got the hat trick with exactly 29 minutes remaining in the contest for the game-winner.
The Tritons had four chances at the equalizer in the final 20-plus minutes of play with their best chance coming in the 88th minute as
Jaycee Cotton shot one towards the lower left corner but it was saved by Viktoria Johnson.
UMSL outshot the Miners 10-3 in the second half but each side had three shots on goal. The Tritons had a 12-3 advantage in corner kicks in the contest.
UMSL continues its three-game roadtrip on Sunday as it travels to Springfield, Mo., to take on Drury at 12 p.m.
