The back and forth was nerve-racking. The Tritons and Maryville Saints put on a show Thursday, but it was the Tritons who held on for the 58-50 win.

UMSL's Shane Wissink lit it up, netting a season-high 20 points.

The Tritons owned the early 37-33 lead in the second half, and Jose Grubbs and Steve Webb's authority to dribble penetration took over.

UMSL extended the lead to 50-45 with four minutes to go on Grubbs's drive in the paint.

Marty Jackson beat the double team and the Tritons went up seven, 52-45. A 54-48 lead hung in the balance after Isaiah Fuller's pair from the line (6-for-6).

The Tritons stood firm as the clock hit triple zeros.

Prior to the win, the Tritons were in second place in the GLVC Central Division behind Truman State.
