TUNICA, MISS. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's golf team finished in third place at the Tunica Cup in Tunica, Miss. on Tuesday, Feb. 22. The weather shortened the event from three-rounds down to a two-round final. Harding University and Christian Brothers University both finished with a final score of 584 strokes to claim the top two spots. UMSL carded out with a final score of 593 strokes, just one stroke ahead of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
Joel Sylven finished tied for sixth on the leaderboard with a final score of 145. Sylven shot a 70 yesterday and followed up with a 75 in the second round.
Nick Hedberg and
Reilly Ahearn finished tied for 14th with a total score of 149. Hedberg shot a 73 on day one and finished the tournament with a 76. Ahearn carded a 77 in round one and improved by five strokes to shoot an even par 72 in the second round.
Carson Postal tied for 18th with a final score of 151. Postal shot a 75 in the first round and stayed consistent in round two with a 76.
Zach Unnerstall tied for 24th with a final score of 154. Unnerstall recorded a 79 in the opening round and bounced back with a 75 in round two.
The Tritons play host in Las Vegas, Nev. next weekend for the Las Vegas Desert Classic. The classic will take place at The Legacy Golf Course Sunday through Tuesday, March 6th, 7th, and 8th.
