Women's Tennis Wins at Lindenwood, Men Fall to Lions

ST. CHARLES, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's tennis teams took to the court Thursday morning at Lindenwood University. The UMSL women defeated Lindenwood 4-3. The men fell to the Lions 5-2.

Women's Tennis
The Tritons (2-4) took the doubles point with wins in the first and second doubles matches. Odette Beagrie and Leticia Lunge won the top doubles match 6-3. Anna Domingo and Tara Erler also won 6-3 in the second doubles match.

Odette Beagrie also won the top singles match against Claire Martin. Beagrie took the first set 7-5 and won the second set 6-3.

Anna Domingo won the No. 2 singles match with a pair of 6-2 set wins over Trang Tran.

Maja Lietzau won the fourth and clinching point for the Tritons. Lietzau won the No. 4 singles match with a pair of 6-4 set wins.

Fernanda Poblete won the No. 3 singles match 6-3 in set one and 6-4 in set two over Leticia Lunge.

Juliana Kulczynski topped Tara Erler in the fifth singles match scoring 6-2, 6-0.

Paula Sostres Pico won the six singles slot 7-6 and 6-4 against Clara Lopez Bueno.

Men's Tennis
UMSL (1-5) won the third doubles match when Jose Mayorga and Raphael Kerndl defeated the team of Mattis Lamm and Juan Balbin 6-1. The Lions claimed the doubles point with a 6-4 win in the top doubles match and a 6-0 win in No. 2 doubles.

Jose Mayorga claimed No. 3 singles with a 6-2 win in the first set. Guillame Teste won the second set 6-4. Mayorga rebounded to win the third set 6-1.

Karl Heinrichs won the fifth singles match with 6-4 win in set one. He followed up with a 6-2 win in set two.

Lindenwood claimed the other four singles matches. In the second singles match, Juan Vigil claimed the first set with a 7-6 tiebreaker. Francisco Diaz won the second set 7-5 and the third set 6-4. Raphael Kerndl also earned a first set win, 7-5, in the fourth singles match. Anton de la Puente won the next two sets 6-3, 6-3.
