ST. LOUIS, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team celebrated its home opener on Saturday with a pair of GLVC wins over Truman State. The Tritons won by scores of 8-3 and 7-2.
With the two wins, UMSL opens GLVC play 6-0 for the first time since 2014.

Game 1: UMSL 8, Truman State 3
After four scoreless innings, all the scoring by both teams was done in the fifth and sixth innings with the Tritons plating four runs in each of those frames.
Junior Annie Scaramuzzi took a perfect game into the top of the fifth before allowing a lead off single. The Bulldogs scored two runs on three hits for the 2-0 advantage.
But UMSL countered with four runs on five hits, while sending 10 batters to the plate. Junior McKenzie Lamos tied the game with a two-run single, while Corinne Daley followed with an RBI double. Scarmuzzi's fielders choice RBI made it 4-2.
Truman State got one run back in the sixth, but a three-run homer from sophomore Riley Schultz in the sixth helped account for the final score.
Schultz was one four players to record two hits as UMSL tallied 11 as a team.
Scaramuzzi struck out six, walked two and allowed three runs on five hits.
Game 2: UMSL 7, Truman State 2
UMSL erased a 2-0 deficit with a six-run fifth inning. The Tritons recorded five hits and put their first 10 batters on base, including graduate student Megan Brown, who cleared the bases with a three-run double.
UMSL recorded eight hits with Brown and sophomore Maddie Snemis tallying two each.
Junior Jenna Towle earned the win in relief, going the final two and one-thirds of an inning without allowing a run or a hit. She struck out three and walked one.
