ROLLA, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team lost the final two games of their series against Missouri S&T in Sunday's doubleheader. S&T won game one 14-8 and won game two 8-7. UMSL scored 30 runs in the weekend series.
Game One
The Miners (11-6) scored two runs in the bottom half of the first inning after a pair of lead off walks came around to score. The Tritons (1-11) answered in the top of the second when
Bryce Kulinski singled to score
Logan Mantz and
Mitchell Green and tie the game 2-2.
The Tritons would take a 5-3 lead in the top of the fourth inning.
Logan Mantz knocked an RBI single to center field. Kulinski hit a sacrifice fly to score Mantz.
Brandon Olion hit an RBI double to record the third run of the inning.
S&T scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and took a 6-5 lead.
Mitchell Green hit an RBI single to tie the game at 6-6 in the top of the fifth inning.
The Miners scored four runs in the fifth inning and four runs in the sixth inning en route to a 14-8 game one win.
Dylan Wobbe was credited with the loss out of the bullpen. Jacob Cook earned the win in relief for the Miners.
Bryce Kulinski was 2-for-2 with four RBI.
Mitchell Green was also 2-for-2 and knocked in a run.
Matt DiMemmo also recorded two hits in game one.
Game Two
The Tritons got on the board early in game two scoring five runs in the first two innings. The scoring spree was highlighted by an RBI single from
Clayton Stephens to score
Leighton Keller in the first inning.
Mitchell Green doubled later in the first inning to score the third run of the inning.
With the score 5-2 in the top of the fifth inning, Stephens tripled to score DiMemmo. Stephens would score on a wild pitch to give the Tritons a 7-2 lead.
The Miners battled back to score three runs in the sixth inning. Brady Voss hit a two-out, two-RBI double in the eighth inning to give S&T an 8-7 lead.
The Triton offense could not answer in the final frame.
Elijah Gross earned the win for the Miners with four innings of relief.
Grant Brunstetter was credited with the loss for the Tritons.
Mitchell Green and
Clayton Stephens both had two hits in the second game. Stephens had two RBI and Green had one RBI.
