KANSAS CITY, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team lost both games of a GLVC doubleheader at Rockhurst on Saturday. The Hawks won the opener, 7-6, in nine innings before claiming a 2-1 victory in game two.
Records: UMSL (18-11, 7-3 GLVC), Rockhurst (10-14, 4-5 GLVC)
Game 1: Rockhurst 7, UMSL 6
The seventh inning saw a combined seven runs scored, including four by the Tritons which gave them a 6-3 lead, while Rockhurst scored three in the bottom of the frame to send the game to extra innings.Â
Graduate student Megan Brown was 3-for-5 at the plate with three RBI, recording her first solo home run of the season in the fourth inning and delivering an RBI single in the seventh.Â
Sophomore Riley Schultz added two hits, including a two-run single in the seventh that gave UMSL a 6-3 lead.Â
UMSL recorded 10 hits, while Rockhurst had eight, including five for extra base, and drew nine walks.Â
Game 2: Rockhurst 3, UMSL 2
Brown and Schultz each recorded an RBI single in the third for a 2-0 lead, but Rockhurst rallied with three runs in the sixth.Â
UMSL out hit the Hawks, 7-4. Sophomore Maddie Snemis had two hits.
Up Next: UMSL is at William Jewell on Sunday for a GLVC doubleheader. Due to field construction at Cardinal Field, games will take place at Park University in Parkville, Mo.
