ST. LOUIS, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team won their third straight match on Sunday with a 5-2 win over the University of Southern Indiana. UMSL is 2-0 in home matches this season.
The Tritons (4-4) swept USI (5-3) in doubles play today. The combination of
Odette Beagrie and
Leticia Lunge won the top doubles match 6-2.
Anna Domingo and
Tara Erler made quick work of the second doubles match with a 6-0 win.
Clara Lopez Bueno and
Maja Lietzau completed the sweep with a 6-4 win in No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Beagrie won the first set, 6-1, over Lauren Rowe. The senior battled in the second set to earn a 7-5 win and No. 1 singles match victory.
Rachel McCorkle won the first set of the No. 2 singles 6-3. Domingo answered with a 6-1 win in set two, but McCorkle claimed the deciding set, 6-3, to give the Screaming Eagles a point.
Lietzau left no doubt in the No. 3 singles match. The junior swept both sets 6-0, 6-0 to cruise to a win for the Tritons.
Lunge won the first set of No. 4 singles 6-3, but Chloe McIsaac won the next two sets, 7-5, 10-6, to claim the final point that USI would score.
Erler won No. 5 singles with a pair of 6-4, 6-4 sets over Kylie Skepnek.
Lopez Bueno won No. 6 singles in 6-0, 6-0 straight sets to finish the 5-2 match win for the Tritons.
UMSL Tennis takes to the court again on Tuesday against Maryville University at 10 a.m. The men's and women's matches will take place at the Dwight Davis Courts in Forest Park.
