ST. LOUIS, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team's shut out streak ended at 29 2/3 innings on Friday.
Annie Scaramuzzi pitched a complete game shut out in game one against St. Cloud State University leading to a 1-0 win. Wilmington University broke the streak in the third inning on the way to a 4-2 win against the Tritons in game two.
Game One
Maddie Snemis led of game one with a single to the shortstop.
McKenzie Lamos doubled to left field advancing Snemis to third.
Annie Scaramuzzi hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Snemis.
That is all the runs that Scaramuzzi would need. The junior threw seven shut out innings allowing five hits and striking out three.
SCSU (6-4) applied pressure in the second inning when they strung together three singles to load the bases with two outs. Scaramuzzi got a pop out to shortstop to end the inning.
The Tritons (9-7) would go on to win 1-0.
Snemis and Lamos both recorded two hits.
Corinne Daley also had two hits in game one.
Game Two
Wilmington University (3-7) scratched across the first run against the Tritons in over 29 innings. With two outs in the top of the third inning, singled three times to bring home one run.
UMSL answered in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Jenna Towle singled to lead off the inning.
Megan Brown grounded into a fielder's choice for the first out.
Irene Travis singled to advance Brown to second.
Mimi Bradley pinch ran for Brown and Bradley was thrown out at home when
Corinne Daley singled to center and the center fielder threw her out at the plate.
Ali Schoon singled the very next at bat to score Travis and tie the game.
In the fifth inning,
McKenzie Lamos hit a solo homer to center to give the Tritons a 2-1 lead.
Wilmington tied the game again with two outs and runners on second and third. A wild pitch scored a run to knot the game at 2-2.
A two-run homer for Wilmington in the top of the seventh snapped the Triton four-game winning streak.
Megan Brown was credited with the loss throwing 6 1/3 innings and allowing four runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts.

The Tritons are off Saturday before playing two games on Sunday in Winter Haven, Fla. UMSL will face Bemidji State University at 1:30 p.m. ET followed by the University of Sioux Falls at 3:45 p.m. ET.
