WINTER HAVEN, FLA. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team played their last two games in Florida on Monday, Mar. 7 splitting the day and finishing The Spring Games with a record of 6-3. UMSL had 12 hits in their 10-1 win over Clarion University in game one. In game two, Grand Valley State University defeated the Tritons 4-1.
Game One
With
Jenna Towle in the circle for game one, Clarion (1-11) scratched across a run in the top of the first inning.
The Tritons (11-8) would answer quickly.
Maddie Snemis led off the bottom half of the first with a walk.
McKenzie Lamos tripled to score Snemis and tie the game.
Corinne Daley sinled to score Lamos and put the Tritons up one. A pair of walks loaded the bases. After an out,
Irene Travis grounded out to bring home a third run in the inning.
UMSL struck again in the second inning.
Jenna Towle hit a ground-rule double that scored
Maddie Snemis.
Megan Brown singled through the right side to score Daley, and
Annie Scaramuzzi singled down the left field line to score Towle.
Leading 6-1, the Tritons scored four more runs in the third inning.
Riley Schultz doubled to lead off the inning.
Anna VanGundy singled to move Schultz up to third. Snemis singled to score Schultz. Snemis would later score on an error by the third baseman.
Megan Brown singled home a run. Then, Scaramuzzi grounded out to score the 10th run for the Tritons.
Towle threw five innings, allowing one run on three hits, three walks, and seven strikeouts. Towle picked up her fourth win of the season.
Snemis, Lamos, and Brown each recorded two hits. Snemis scored three runs. Brown and Scaramuzzi both knocked in two RBI.
Game Two
Annie Scaramuzzi threw four hitless innings against Grand Valley State (7-0), before the Lakers started the scoring in the fifth inning.
Morgan Wagner led off with a single. Wagner was advanced to third with a pair of sacrifice bunts. With two outs, Kaitlin Lynch singled to score Wagner. An error by the first baseman extended the inning. Three straight singles scored three unearned runs.
Mimi Bradley came on in relief and got a fly out to end the inning.
With an out in the top of the sixth,
McKenzie Lamos hit a solo homer to get the Tritons on the board.
Genesis Eggart threw a complete game for the Lakers allowing one earned run on two hits with four strikeouts to earn the win.
Scaramuzzi was credited with the loss. The junior threw four and two-third innings allowing one earned run on five hits with four strikeouts. Bradley threw an inning and a third scoreless and struck out two without allowing a hit.

The Tritons will start Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Friday, Mar. 11 at the University of Illinois Springfield. UIS and UMSL will play a doubleheader starting at noon.
