ROLLA, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team tallied 26 hits on Sunday while picking up a pair of GLVC road wins at Missouri S&T, winning 12-4, and 11-0.
Records: UMSL (26-13, 15-5 GLVC), Missouri S&T (20-20, 8-10 GLVC)
Game 1: UMSL 12, Missouri S&T 4 (6 inn.)
UMSL scored seven runs in the first inning and never looked back, finishing the game with 14 hits.
Junior Irene Travis went 4-for-4 at the plate with two RBI, while senior Corinne Daley and junior Annie Scaramuzzi had two hits each. Graduate student Megan Brown added three RBI.
Senior Mimi Bradley scattered seven hits and allowed just one earned run.
Game 2: UMSL 11, Missouri S&T 0 (6 inn.)
The Tritons scored 11 runs on 12 hits, which included an eight-run fifth inning.
Travis recorded three hits to finish the day 7-of-8 at the plate, while sophomore Riley Schultz finished with four RBI on a double and a home run.
UMSL took a 3-0 lead in the fourth, which included Schultz's long ball.
The Tritons recorded seven hits in the fifth and also took advantage of two Miner errors and scored a run on five straight at-bats.
Scaramuzzi tossed the two-hit complete game shutout, striking out seven and walking one.
Up Next: UMSL is at Indianapolis next Saturday in a GLVC doubleheader.
