Rhodes Pitches Tritons to Series Win Over Lindenwood

St. Louis – Jack Rhodes threw eight innings of three-hit baseball with five strikeouts to propel the University of Missouri – St. Louis baseball team to a 2-0 victory over Lindenwood Saturday afternoon at the UMSL Baseball Field in St. Louis, Mo. Rhodes performance aided the Tritons in taking three games of the four-game weekend series over the Lions.

How it Happened – The Tritons opened the scoring in the bottom of the second as Clayton Stephens and Logan Mantz each singled to put runners at first and second with one out on the frame. Stephens scored on an infield error to put UMSL on top 1-0.

UMSL tacked on a run in the home half of the seventh Carson Holin reached base on an error and moved over to second on a Brandon Olion one-out single. The runners moved up to second and third on a pair of stolen bases and Holin came home on a Kameron Laskowski sacrifice fly to center field to extend the Tritons advantage to 2-0.

That is all the Tritons would need as Trent Anderson entered the game in the ninth and forced a pair of groundouts and a fly-out to shortstop Jared Bryant to earn his second save of the season. Rhodes earned his second win of the season in the victory for the Tritons.
