St. Louis – The University of Missouri – St. Louis baseball team scattered 19 hits while
Clayton Stephens ripped a pair of home runs in the first game of the day as the Tritons swept Rockhurst Friday afternoon at the UMSL Baseball Field. Stephens drove in six runs in the opener as the Tritons came from behind to defeat the Hawks 9-8. In the nightcap, the Tritons scored in every inning to earn an 8-2. UMSL has now won five consecutive games.
Game One – The Hawks cracked the scoreboard with a run in the top of the second to take a 1-0 lead, but the Tritons answered in the home half of the third as
Brandon Olion drew a one-out walk and advanced to second on a
Kameron Laskowski single up the middle to place runners at first and second. The runners moved up 90 feet on a wild pitch and Olion scored on a throwing error to even the game at 1-1.
Rockhurst regained the lead in the fourth with a three-run homer to pull ahead of UMSL 4-1.
Mitchell Green cut the Hawks lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth with his fifth home run of the year over the left-field wall to make the score 4-2.
The Tritons continued to use the long ball as Stephens hit a two-run blast to tie the contest up at 4-4. The homer for Stephens was his team-high seventh of the year.
Rockhurst once again took the lead in the seventh with three runs in the top of the seventh to grab a 7-4 advantage, The Tritons answered once again in the seventh as
Carson Holin singled to open the inning as Olion walked and Laskowski was hit by a pitch to load the bases. They all scored as Stephens launched his second homer of the day to put UMSL out in front 8-7. The Tritons added to the lead in the frame as
Leighton Keller hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 9-7.
The Hawks attempted to rally in the ninth as they hit a two-out home run to pull to within a run at 9-8, but
Dylan Wobbe threw his fourth strikeout of the game to earn his second save of the year.
Nick Torres worked 7.1 innings with six strikeouts to propel the Tritons to the comeback victory.

Game Two – The Tritons opened the scoring in the bottom of the first as Olion opened the frame with a triple and scored on a Laskowski single to right field to give UMSL a 1-0 lead. The Tritons extended the lead in the second as Green started things off with a walk and moved to second as
Bryce Kulinski singled to center field to put runners at first and second with one out. After both runners stole a base, Green scored on an error to extend the lead to 2-0.
After the Hawks tied the game in the top of the third frame, UMSL reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the inning as Olion doubled and advanced to third on another single by Laskowski. Olion would come home on a wild pitch to put the Tritons on top 3-2.
UMSL added another run in the fourth as Keller lifted a sacrifice fly to left field to extend the advantage to 4-2. The Tritons continued to add to the lead in the fifth as Olion drew a walk to open the inning and again moved to second as Laskowski had his third hit of the game. Olion scored on a throwing error to take a 5-2 lead.
Olion continued the scoring streak for the Tritons as he hit a two-run single to drive in Keller and Kulinski to push the lead out to 7-2. Olion then scored as Laskowski ripped a double to centerfield to extend the UMSL advantage to 8-2.
Adam Rose earned his third win of the year with a complete outing while striking out nine Rockhurst batters on the afternoon.
